Mountains to Meadows Trailfest sponsored by Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship

Mountains to Meadows Review and Accolades:

As a board member of a fellow regional trails organization, I want to give a shout-out to the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship for their inaugural Mountains to Meadows Trailfest this past weekend. From start to finish, the event was well-organized, highly enjoyable, and ran very smoothly for a first year event.

One of the highlights for me was meeting such a diverse range of people—from various trail work associations to organizations with all kinds of missions. The conversations were as varied as they were interesting, whether we were riding shuttles up to the top of Mount Hough or gathered around picnic tables enjoying the amazing catered breakfasts from Mountain Magic Catering. There was a sense of camaraderie from going out and doing trail work and the shared purpose made the experience even more memorable.

It's events like these that make me hopeful for the future of Muscle Powered. As we continue to grow and evolve, I’d love to see us pull off something similar—bringing trail groups together to support and uplift each other in the same way, all while having a kick-ass party.

The Plumas County Fairgrounds was a great location. You could easily head out on a ride right from the grounds, no vehicle required. And if you were shuttling, you could easily ride back without having to wait for a return shuttle. They have well maintained restrooms and showers which were much appreciated after long days of riding.

Then, of course, there was the music. It was fantastic. Every band brought their A-game, and Boot Juice —with their local Quincy roots—absolutely brought the house down, pushing the energy to a solid 11.

The festival also featured the new Patagonia Films movie, Firelines. It’s a must-see, showcasing some ingenious approaches to using trails to connect and protect communities heavily impacted by wildfires. Thought-provoking and beautifully shot.

And to top it all off, let’s not forget the world-class trails that Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship has built and continues to maintain. These trails are some of the best around, and I’m still smiling from ear to ear thinking about them!

All in all, it was an unforgettable weekend, and I can’t wait for next year. If you love trails, appreciate those who put in the hard work to keep them alive, and want to get more involved, do yourself a favor—don’t miss out on this event next time around!
