What Carson City Wants!

We’re excited to share the results of the Centennial Park Master Plan Survey, which shows Carson City’s overwhelming support for a premier mountain bike park!

The community’s enthusiasm is clear, and the data the city collected shows just how important this project is to those who live, work, visit, and play in Carson City.

What Did We Learn?

Here are some of the key takeaways from the survey (see the actual survey results in the photo gallery below):

1. Strong Support for a Mountain Bike Park

An incredible majority of respondents expressed support for the creation of a mountain bike park at Centennial Park. The community made it clear: Carson City wants a space where riders of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the outdoors.

2. Top Features Requested

The survey results showed that riders are looking for a variety of features, including:

• Jump lines: A significant number of respondents highlighted the need for progressive jump lines, giving riders the chance to build their skills.

• Pumptrack: Families and younger riders were especially excited about the inclusion of a pumptrack, providing a fun, accessible way to get into mountain biking.

• Skills Zones: For those looking to fine-tune their technique, the community strongly supported adding skills zones to the park.

• Flow/Slopestyle Trails: Advanced riders want to see flowy trails and slopestyle elements that allow for a range of technical challenges.

3. Community Vision for a Premier Park

The survey showed that people don’t just want any bike park—they want a premier park that reflects the character and spirit of Carson City. Respondents emphasized that the park should be a place where the community can gather, host events, and attract visitors from around the region.

4. Inclusivity and Accessibility

A key takeaway from the survey is the community’s desire to ensure the park is accessible to riders of all ages and abilities. Whether you are a seasoned rider or someone just starting out, the park needs to offer something for everyone - inclusivity is at the heart of what the future Carson City Bike Park represents.

What Happens Next?

We’re thrilled by the community’s feedback, and we’re working hard to make this vision a reality. The next step involves continuing discussions with Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space to align our goals with the overall vision and Master Plan for Centennial Park, particularly as they navigate upcoming flood mitigation work in order to protect existing and future park infrastructure.

Stay tuned for updates as we continue this journey toward creating a one-of-a-kind bike park here in Carson City!
